Who am I?

I’m a web developer with over 20 years experience across all aspects of web design and development. By day I am Software Engineer at Threat Status with a focus on UI and UX,  and when I’m not working, you can be sure I’m still coding or playing with something code or web related…

Since the emergence of companies such as Digital Ocean and other cloud based infrastructure services I have become particularly interested in Full-Stack development, and I make a point of spending a few hours each week keeping up with new technologies and standards, using today’s tools such as Webpack,  PHPUnit, CodeCeption, Cypress and more to continually improve workflow, allowing me to focus on the “cool stuff”

I’m also a huge UX freak. While the term “User Experience” is relatively new, it is my belief that UX has been at the core of successful web sites and applications since I started back in 1993. It has been for me at least. At the end of the day, the user is king, and my design and development philosophy has always reflected this (although, if I’m entirely honest, the definition of “experience” has changed over the years! – Ask me about my Flash sites…)

I don’t get much time to blog, so expect full posts to be sporadic at best, but I will be regularly sharing links to stuff that fellow web developers and geeks may find interesting or useful…
