Bites, Beaks, Bytes And Rights

Hello!

introductiongeneral

Hello there! Welcome to my little corner of the Internet. Here, I’ll be sharing bits and pieces from my life — stories about my beaks (that’s Pixel and Widget, my green cheek conures with HUGE personalities), recipes for tasty bites, thoughts on gaming, code, AI, and other tech bytes, plus a few rants and reflections on politics and disability rights.

So, who am I? I’m a software engineer, currently unable to work due to disability, but still tinkering, playing with code, and diving into the world of emerging tech - especially LLMs and generative AI. I’m always learning, hoping that one day I’ll be able to return to work.

Before I got hooked on tech in the early 90s, I spent over a decade as a chef. I was classically trained and worked internationally, and while my disability keeps me from cooking anything too elaborate these days, I still love food and sharing my creations with the people I care about.

If karma is real, I must have done something terrible in a past life, because now I live with crippling arthritis. Most days, standing is a challenge, and pain is a constant companion. My world has become smaller and slower, but I’ve also gained new perspectives—on the benefits system, on how society views disability, and on politics. Expect some strong opinions and the occasional rant; you might agree, you might not, but I hope you’ll find them thought-provoking.

And then there are the birds. I absolutely love parrots, and Pixel and Widget rule my life (and keep me sane - though I do question my sanity during their daily chaos).

Anyway, I hope you enjoy my blog. I’m looking forward to sharing these little slices of my life with you.
